Finding The Best Marvel Action Figures

By Enid Hinton

Comic book fans go crazy whenever someone mentions "Thor, " "Captain America, " "The Invisible Woman, " "Spiderman, " "Mr. Fantastic, " "Storm, " "Conan" or the "Human Torch." They all know that these are some of the best marvel action figures that can be found around the entire globe.

Decades ago a great man named Stan Lee introduced a certain woman who was shy and could easily turn invisible. Her name was Susan Storm and she is a very pretty blonde who is the only female member in a team named "The Fantastic Four." This group had Saturday morning cartoon shows and a good comic book which sold well at local book stores. A company named Mego decided to make a statue of "The Invisible Woman" after negotiating with the comic company. This statue would remain true to the book and come with washable clothing.

Mego thought that every kid in America would desire this doll but they were wrong. Even though she did not sell well at the time Susan Storm has now become a rare collectors item that many people want to possess. A certain Barbie doll toy company also did a statue of Susan Storm but it was not a good likeness of her at all.

Sue is married to Reed Richards who is known as "Mr. Fantastic." The Mego company was smart to create this certain item as well. Reed Richard's statue looks just like the comic book character and toy collectors everywhere try to bid on this item. He also sells for a high price if he is still new within his original package. Both Reed and Sue look exactly like the characters presented in the books.

Unfortunately Mego really messed things up when they produced the super women who appeared within the DC comics. "Batgirl, " "Wonder Woman, " "Catwoman, " "Supergirl" and "Isis" all have the same baby doll look on their faces. Susan Storm is the only female figure that truly looks like an adult woman.

This same Mego team went on to produce "Conan" who is truly a collectors item. He has a stern look across his face and comes in two different versions. In the 70's Mego decided to produce him with both long and short hair. A company called "Classic TV Toys" is now making a new copy of this statue but the quality is not the same.

Decades ago Mego put more quality into their products since they thought very highly of their fans. The only dolls which failed the quality test were the super hero women from DC. Overall the bodies on these dolls are great since they seem to last for a lifetime. Anyone who has seen the movie "The Avengers" is already looking to purchase a "Thor" statue made by Mego.

Mego went on to make "The Human Torch" and "Thing" since every fan wanted all of the members from the "Fantastic Four" team. This company would have made even more money if they had decided to produce a Johnny Storm statue from this quartet. He is a fan favorite and every person around tries to make a custom figure of Johnny.
