Interesting Facts About A Lapidary Stone Granite

By Stephen Nelson

Mining and extraction of precious minerals are some of the main economic activities that many countries engage in. Not only does is act as a good source of revenue, but it is also useful in many other activities. As a result, the activity has attracted specialists such as geologists and miners. They oversee all manners of activities ranging from the actual extraction right up to the final polishing. They are also responsible for detection and making discoveries of nearby minerals. Therefore, the issue of lapidary stone granite is very important in the mining industry.

These stones are extracted from igneous rocks that is composed of minerals known as quartz, mica and feldspar. Generally, they can take many forms of color; pink to grey included depending on the chemistry behind its existence. In terms of mass, it is very huge, hard and dense. This makes them suitable for handling most construction processes.

There are many names used to describe the stones. There are books that term them as K2 Granite or K2 Jasper. This solely depends on the fact that the level of understanding may differ. Even though they were originally discovered in Pakistan, its popularity has continued to spread. It is characterized for having the unique bright white color. It also contains precious minerals known as the azurite that is characterized by the light blue matter.

The azurite orbs usually measures about 1mm to 2cm in diameter. When it is placed on a broken surface, it contains bright blue ink in terms of appearance. In fact, it would take a lifetime for one to notice its spherical nature. The fact that it contains quartz, makes it fine grained in appearance.

When one talks of mining of the stones, they simply try to relate to activities such as engraving, cutting and polishing of stones and gems. In other terms, it also means that there are expert behind this enormous work. As a result, many workshops have come up to perform these activities. They carry out unique responsibilities so that the stones are presented in their finest forms.

The process of extraction is not easy. It requires major guidelines to help them to achieve their activities. For instance, they simply need to use very unique machines to assist them with cutting of the stones. Sometimes, it is difficult for the person to locate the cliff that has such minerals. In addition the process is rather wasteful since it is hard to determine their location.

Occupational hazards such as chest related infections, eye sight problems and deafness are quite common. In fact, by the time they hit 50 years of age, most individuals are partially of fully susceptible to such problems. Therefore, they need to protect themselves as often as possible.

Mineral composition is what makes the stones or gems to become precious. The building and construction industry takes up the challenge of extracting and cutting the stones into smaller pieces so that they can remain useful throughout the project. Therefore, they are mandatory in the industry.
